Tepic is the capital city of the state of Nayarit in West Mexico.
One of the most accepted meanings says the Tepic Word comes from Nahuatl languaje, formed by the words "tetl" (stone) and "picqui" (solid thing), Tepic means "place of solid stone". Other authors think that it comes from the primitive name Tepec, meaning "very populous place"; also said that derives from Tepictli, a variety of local maize and means "land of maize". Tepic ranks second in the State in indigenous population with 4,375 inhabitants of different ethnicities.
Some places to visit are: the Cathedral, weapons Plaza, Palace of Government, regional Museum of anthropology and history, Temple of the Holy Cross zacate, Park Juan Escutia, Museum Amado Nervo Centre ceremonial huichol citacua, among others.
