This massive volcano has an altitude of 2, 250 m. above sea level. Çit is easy to get there by the most elevated part, through a cobblestone road that starts at the outskirts of Jala village. From the top, you can observe a fantastic panorama of the sierra cord. At the foot of the volcano rest the towns of Jala, Ixtlán del Rio and Ahuacatlán. Currently it has an apparent calm, expressing only a series of steaming distributed most of them in the interior, with a temperature ranging from 70 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The strongest eruption registered of "El Ceboruco" was in the year of 1870, which greatly damaged the surrounding communities; there is no record of victims. Currently the volcano emits fumaroles and it is considered active with possibility of eruptions in the future.
